 # Ratio & Proportion (11)

1. A , B , C started a partnership business by investing Rs 27000 , 72000 , 81000 respectively. At the end of the year , the profit were distributed among them. If C’s share of profit is 36000, What is the total profit?
1. 80000
2. 90000
3. 70000
4. 120000

Explanation : –

Ratio of their Investment = A : B : C = 27000 : 72000 : 81000 = 3 : 8 : 9
Let the total profit be Rs. x
Therefore C’s Profit = (9/20) x = 36000
x = 36000 * 20 /9 = Rs. 80000

2. A & B started a partnership business. A’s investment was thrice the investment of B and the period of his investment was two times the period of investments of B. If B received Rs 4000 as profit , what is their total profit?
1. 28000
2. 30000
3. 32000
4. 34000

Explanation : –

Let B’s Investment = Rs. x ,    Therefore A’s Investment = Rs. 3x
Let B invested for y months ,   Therefore A invested for 2y months
So, A : B = (3x * 2y) : (x * y) = 6xy : xy = 6 : 1.
Let the total profit = Rs. p
B’s profit =  4000 , Therefore (1/7) of p = 4000
p= 4000 * 7/1 =Rs. 28000

3. P and Q invested in a business. The profit earned was divided in the ratio 2 : 3. If P invested Rs 40000, the amount invested by Q is
1. 40000
2. 50000
3. 60000
4. 70000

Explanation : –

Q’s Investment = (40000 / 2 )* 3 = Rs. 60000

4. A & B start a business jointly. A invests Rs 16000 for 8 month & B remains in a business for 4 months. Out of total profit, B claims 2/7 of the profit . How much money was contributed by B ?
1. 11200
2. 12000
3. 12400
4. 12800

Explanation : –

B’s profit  = 2/7 of the profit  Therefore A’s profit  = 5/7 of the profit
A : B = 5/7 : 2/7 = 5 : 2.
Let B,s investment =  Rs. x.
Therefore , (16000 * 8) / ( x * 4) = 5/2
x = (16000 * 8 * 2) / (5 * 4)
x = Rs 12800.
