- Syrian national Yusra Mardini has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
- Two Indian-origin women veterans have been conferred the highest National Order awards by the South African President Jacob Zuma. Fatima Meer posthumously received this Order.
- Beverages major Coca-Cola announced appointment of T.K.K. Krishnakumar as president of its India & South West Asia Business Unit, replacing Venkatesh Kini.
- Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar inaugurated Sportsmed Activ, an enhancement and rehab arm of speciality clinic Sportsmed.
- Chairman and Managing Director of Malayalam daily ‘Mathrubhumi’ M P Veerendra Kumar has been chosen for the seventh K Chandrasekharan Memorial Award for his contribution to the nation as a socialist, Parliamentarian, administrator and travel writer.
- World’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has been named the ‘Indian MNC of the year’ by All India Management Association.
- Private sector City Union Bank said that Reserve Bank of India has approved the re-appointment of N Kamakodi as MD and CEO, for a period of three years with effect from May 1.
- Indian Grandmaster Harika Dronavalli has been chosen as the best women player at Reykjavik Open Chess tournament.
- The Nalanda University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Kanazawa University of Japan for academic collaboration. According to the MoU, the two universities will make an effort to promote and develop cooperation through exchange of faculty members and research fellows, exchange of students, and academic materials, publications and information.
