1 . According to the Brand Trust Report 2017, South Korean firm Samsung has emerged as the most trusted brand in the country followed by Sony and LG, while Tata Group is the only Indian company to feature in the top five.

  1. Indian captain Virat Kohli was named Wisden’s Leading Cricketer in the World for 2016.

  1. India’s Jeremy Lalrinnunga (Mizoram) has won a silver in 56kg category in IWF Youth World Weightlifting Championships.
    – Lalrinnunga lifted a total of 240kg (110 in snatch + 130 in clean and jerk) to finish second in the event.

  1. The Union Cabinet approved a MoU between India and Australia on cooperation in the field of communicable diseases and mental health.
  2. The Union Cabinet approved the setting up of a regulator called the Rail Development Authority (RDA).
    – Rail Development Authority (RDA) is an independent regulator to recommend passenger and freight fares and  set service level benchmarks.

  1. Teenage leg-spinner Rashid Khan Arman created history by becoming the first player from Afghanistan to play an Indian Premier League match.
    – Rashid Khan was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 4 crore making him an overnight star in his country
  2. The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Malvika Sinha as the Executive Director following the appointment of B P Kanungo as Deputy Governor.

    10. According to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), India’s growth rate will improve to 7.4 per cent during 2017-18 and go up further to 7.6 per cent in the next financial year.
    – India’s GDP in 2016- 17 was 7.1%
